Vaasthu

Vaasthu shaastra is an ancient traditional architectural science born and developed in India. Vaasthu shaastra deals with the architectural and engineering needs of any structure. The word Vaasthu is derived from Sanskrit word ‘VAS’ that means to dwell and Vasthu means earth. Shaastra means science. Vaasthu shaastra has its origin in Stapatya Veda, from Adharvana Veda, which is one of the four Vedas. Vaasthu Shaastra means the science of all “matter and energy” and “time and space” in the universe and its use of creating dwellings, temples, forts, monumental structures, and even vehicles.

In ancient days very few people have access to sacred texts and religious books like Vedas. Only priests, saints, some of upper cast people were able to know the real knowledge of Vedas and other shaastras (sciences). It was impossible to teach the real science to all the people in the country at that time. They have selected a PRECISE way of representation of Vaasthu principles to those ignorant people in order to make them happy, prosperous, and wealthy. It is said that constructing against each Vaasthu principles will causes serious lose of health and wealth and even lives to the dwellers of that house. Vaasthu science is not superstitious and is rational and scientific. The whole idea of all vaasthu principles is to give a comfortable path to human kind to reach ultimate reality by protecting from natural calamities and disturbances
and all evil forces.

Introduction
As the Vaasthu was originated from Vedas, its date back to several thousands of years even before Ramayana and Maha Bharatha periods. This science was written and developed by several sages, saints, and rishis. The sages gained the knowledge this science through penance and investigating the meteorological data of several years. They meditated to know the real knowledge of this subject and wrote precise vaasthu rules using their divine yogic powers. The eighteen saints were said to be prominent among all other Vaasthu Scientists in sacred text masthya purana. They are Brugu, Athri, Vashishta, Viswa karma, Maya, Narada, Nagna Jittu, Vishalaksha, Purandhara, Brahma, Kumara, Nandheshwara, Shounaka, Garg, Vaasudeva, Anirudha, Sukra, and Bruhaspathi. The other ancient rishis are Agasthya, Valmiki, Kashyapa, kathyayana, mareechi, Manu, Markondeya, Mandana Suthradhara, and Baradhwaja.
The recent Vaasthu Scientists who modified the ancient text were Varahamihira, Sanathkumara, Bhoja raja, and Manasara. Varahamihira the great Indian mathematician, philosopher, astronomer and astrologer contributed in developing Vaasthu shaastra a lot who lived in ujjain from 505 to 575 A.D. out of his most famous works Pancasiddhantika dealt with astronomy and the other Brihatsamhitha contains descriptions of heavenly bodies, their movements and conjunctions, meteorological phenomena. These intellectuals took meteorological and astronomical data into account in designing the Vaasthu principles.
The legend Ramayana and Maha Bharatha were considered as myths by the world till 20th century. After the discovery of ancient Great City Dwaraka under the sea by historians, the epic became history today. The historians explored the city under the sea, and found large forts, dwellings and buildings with large stone girders (unimaginable sizes) and coins.
The city Dwaraka (the present day Dwaraka is situated in west coastal area of Gujarath State in India) was built by one of the chief architect Viswa karma according to vaasthu principles. The other ancient architect was Maya who built forts for demon kings.
According to Vaasthu, the height of a house should not exceed the height of the temple in the neighborhood. This was based on the principle that temples used to have a flag post made-up of metal and in addition to that ‘kalashas’ the bronze vessels installed on crest of the temple, they acted as lightning arresters. If the houses were taller they would become prone to lightning strikes......

Vaasthu Purusha

According to the legends Lord Shiva invaded Andhakasura the demon king to safeguard the world from him. The sweat from his forehead took a giant form tried to occupy the whole world. The deities representing the various directions arrested him by sitting on his back. He prayed the lord who gave a boon to vaasthu purusha that inhabitants of any dwelling in the world should pray him and does not hurt him. It became the tradition later that all dwellers has to perform puja (pray) to Vaasthu purusha to lookafter the house at the starting of the construction.....
